Reflection Letter!

This is my first year at Everett Community College; I am working to get a degree in physical education so I can become an elementary PE teacher. This English class is needed to get that degree and I chose to take this specific class because I wanted to see the how the full time online classes worked. I have always been pretty good in English but this class challenged my writing. This class helped me to explore my views and expand them.

The main themes have helped me to grow. Identity showed me that everyone has struggles but that it is always easier to change who you are instead of standing up for yourself. In the long run you won’t be happy with whom you’ve become if you’re not true to who you are. The community unit helped to show that everyone needs someone and most everyone has a community even if they aren’t aware of it. That community helps hold you strong when you are falling apart. The tradition lesson is where I learned the most. Tradition is important but not at the risk of sacrificing your own happiness. Sometimes a compromise is necessary to make sure that you aren’t hurting anyone for the wrong reasons. That there is a fine line between breaking tradition to be yourself and breaking tradition to rebel and hurt your family. All of these main themes or lessons have taught me many things and expanded my views on how I see the world.

I chose the four pieces of writing because they show my growth as a writer. The paper that I feel needs to be revised the most is my first essay. That essay I struggled with and being the first essay of the quarter didn’t help either. I feel that this time my growth will shine through and it essay will be a lot better. The writing I chose to show my critical thinking is my timed write #2(two). I feel this write shows my thinking process pretty well. It talks about non-conformity and being yourself. The one I chose based on the audience is the blog about what is in my purse. This blog is like I’m talking to a friend. The audience is my peers, so I tried to write like I talk and I think I did a pretty good job. The final piece I chose for my e-portfolio is my final essay. I chose this essay because it is the last essay for this class this essay hopefully showed my growth in the class and in my writing. I hope that this essay helped you understand me a bit better. This reflection letter has helped me to understand my writing more and I hope it helped you as well.
